In honor of today’s beach clean-up, this week’s “Service Saturday” feature is the Surfrider Foundation & Surfrider Foundation - Ocean City Maryland Chapter
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization that works to protect and preserve the world's oceans, waves and beaches. It focuses on water quality, beach access, beach and surf spot preservation, and sustaining marine and coastal ecosystems. The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network. The Ocean City Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation is made up of surfers, non-surfers, and beach lovers who volunteer to ensure that our oceans, waves, and beaches are clean and accessible for all to enjoy.
The Surfrider Foundation has many amazing programs and volunteer opportunities to help keep our oceans clean. Beach clean-ups are a Surfrider Foundation program to tackle the ocean litter issue – primarily caused by plastic pollution - through education for action, citizen science, and campaigns. Today’s Ocean City beach clean-up had a great turn out and so much trash was collected! Make sure to check out the links below for more information and events.
